Medical office managers, administrators, supervisors, directors,
assistants, coordinators, specialists, and consultants, with clinical
and operational responsibilities, are all encouraged to join. PAHCOM
maintains a special category of membership for students enrolled in at
least nine credit hours of study.

Specific Program Details
Local Chapters
PAHCOM currently has 40 local chapters throughout the country. They
are independent, chartered organizations that are authorized to use the
name and logo of PAHCOM. Chapters conduct monthly educational programs,
exchange news on local medical events, and conduct a forum for
administering the PAHCOM Certified Medical Manager (CMM) examination.
CMM is a highly prized credential that documents knowledge in 18
areas of medical management ranging from human resource management to
facilities management. The examination contains 160 multiple choice
questions and two essay questions based on case studies. Candidates are
required to be PAHCOM members, have three years experience, and attain
12 college credits.
Annual Conference
Celebrating its 21th
anniversary in 2009, the PAHCOM annual conference is a premier
educational event offering classroom sessions, an informative exhibit
program, information about state-of-the-art technological advances in
health care, networking with managers in a range of medical
specialties, and opportunities to relax and renew your personal and
professional resources.
Professional Resources
The PAHCOM web site, www.pahcom.com, provides the latest news and a variety of resources for practice managers including valuable forms and links. The Members Only
section offers access to a directory of individual and corporate
members and a library of sample budgets, personnel forms and policies,
job descriptions, patient materials, and coding/billing information.
Listserv
Join the PAHCOM email-based community and gain access to the expertise
of over 750 members. The listserv is an optional, confidential benefit
for members only. A sample of the topics covered can be found on page
12 of this issue of Medical Office Managment.
Career Center
Members can post their resumes on the Career Center for free and search
for a variety of office staff that are seeking new opportunities. The
Career Center does a wonderful job of matching employers and job
seekers.
Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship Fund receives contributions from members, vendors, and
programs that the national office has established with a variety of
organizations. Members may apply of assistance in financing their
educational and professional growth. Since its inception PAHCOM has
provided over $100,000 in scholarship awards to its members.
Professional Recognition and Awards
The PAHCOM awards program offers members professional recognition for their excellence.
Medical Manager of the Year
This is the premier recognition of one PAHCOM member each year. The
award is presented at the Annual Conference Banquet. Each nominee is
evaluated on a point system that considers professional, social,
educational, and technological involvement during the evaluation
period. The recipient of the award receives a crystal trophy, citation,
publicity, and complimentary registration, travel, and lodging for two
at the next annual conference.
PAHCOM Award for Professional Excellence
This award is presented to the member who most exemplifies
professionalism in managing medical practices. The recipient is chosen
by the National Advisory Board from the recommendations contributed by
the national office, local chapter presidents, and individual members.
The recipient receives a crystal trophy and a framed certificate.
Chapter of the Year Award
The Chapter of the Year Award is presented to the PAHCOM local
chapter that accumulates the most points from a variety of goals and
objectives that are delineated in the Chapter Handbook. The chapter
recipient receives $1000, is honored at the Awards Banquet, and a
podium banner commemorating the award.
Chapter Growth Program
The Chapter Growth Program is designed to assist local chapters in their growth and development. There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
place winners for the chapters that recruit the most new PAHCOM members
during the year. In addition all chapters that recruit an average of
one new member per month will receive two complimentary membership
renewals and qualify all of their chapter officers to a 50% discount on
their annual conference registration fee. The details are delineated in
the chapter handbook.
